Open Positions

I am actively seeking highly motivated MSc and PhD students to join my lab. Graduate students in my lab are typically fully funded through research assistantships (RAs), although they may be required to serve as teaching assistants (TAs) for a short period. Students who are interested in working with me are encouraged to contact me well in advance of the application deadline (at least month prior to the application deadline). Students with external scholarship, such as CSC program for Chinese students, are welcome to contact me.

Opening

• Students who will work on developing a new type of soft actuator for robotic applications.

• Students will work on developing a teleoperation system for a robot hand using tactile devices.

* Please contact me (junghwa1@ualberta.ca) only if you have prior research experience in one of these areas.

Qualifications

• A BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field

• Strong interest in conducting high-quality research in robotics, haptics, and related areas

• High level of motivation and initiative (VERY IMPORTANT!)

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
